Stara Kamienica, located right in the very city centre, is a new addition to Warsaw's culinary scene. With the cooking boom seen in Poland in recent years and culinary habits transition here, it's with great pleasure to experience growing number of quality restaurants, where well-trained chefs modernize presenting traditional food. Stara Kamienica is fine example of such innovative switch.
Almost in the heart of city centre zone, just a stone throw from Jerozolimskie Avenue or Rotunda, it's still in relatively silent area. Rather dark but elegant and stylish interior consists of three rooms, where walls are decorated with pleasing photos of Warsaw and its neighborhood, what makes the venue ideal for both, a business meeting or a date. It needs to be mentioned that Stara Kamienica is also a gallery and live music venue, where events are organized regularly for its clientele.
The menu combines European and Polish cuisine, with the latest being its modern version, full of forest tastes, where mushrooms, wild game, fresh fish and herbs make it so unique. Start your culinary feast with steak tartar or old Polish sour rye soup with boletus mushroom, white sausage and hard-boiled egg, where either of the dishes are true local classics. If you are into Polish delicacies, continue with duck confit or pork shank pickled in honey beer. But if you prefer European cuisine, there's wide selection of seafood and classic salads. To complement your treat, make sure you don't miss cheesecake with white chocolate.
Stara Kamienica is open from morning till late in the evening and falls comfortably into the category of 'should-visit' when enjoying the charms of the capital city.
